Raise a Glass to the Stars: Pre-Clipse Beer Festival Brings Craft Brews and Celestial Delights to Madisonville, KY

Prepare for a celestial celebration as Madisonville hosts the Pre-Clipse Beer Festival on April 6, 2024, at the picturesque Mahr Park Arboretum. This epic beer fest promises an unforgettable day of craft brews, delectable bites, and the anticipation of the 2024 solar eclipse.

Brews, Bites, and Eclipse Excitement:

From 1pm to 5pm, beer enthusiasts and eclipse aficionados alike are invited to revel in the festivities. The event will feature a stellar lineup of Kentucky-crafted brews from renowned breweries such as Dam BrewHaus, Dry Ground Brewing Co, Henderson Brewing Co, Hopkinsville Brewing Co, Madisonville Community College, The Brew Bridge, The Pub on Second, Tradewater Brewing Co, and White Squirrel Brewery.

Each brewery booth will offer $5 pours of their finest beers, allowing attendees to sample a variety of flavors. Additionally, local food trucks, including Vansauwa’s Tacos & Vegan Eats from Hopkinsville, Sabor Colombia, Colombian Eats from Henderson, and Jus Burgers from Madisonville, will be on-site, providing a delectable array of eats to complement the brews.

Age Verification and Wristbands:

To ensure a responsible and enjoyable experience, IDs will be checked at brewery booths. Wristbands will be provided to customers aged 21 and over, allowing them to partake in the beer-tasting festivities.

Mark your calendars for April 6, 2024, and join us at Mahr Park Arboretum for a day filled with brews, bites, and the celestial wonder of the 2024 solar eclipse. In order to prepare for the celestial eclipse on April 8th, a limited number of eclipse view glasses will be available, provided by the Simons Foundation, at no charge to attendees.

The Great Restaurant Race (March 2024)

The Great Restaurant Race 2024

March 1 – March 30

Hungry? On your mark, get set, go! Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission is excited to bring back the “Great Restaurant Race!” This annual event celebrates restaurants by encouraging locals and visitors to experience a culinary competition like no other! Finish the race by eating at 10 different restaurants in Hopkins County by March 30th and you’ll be entered to win a $500 grand prize package!

Save your receipts! Once you complete the race, follow the link posted on the Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission website or the HCTCC Facebook page to upload your receipts. Any entries submitted between March 1st, 2024, and March 30th, 2024, will be entered to win. One grand prize winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entries. The grand prize winner will receive a prize package valued at over $500! Additional winners will be selected to win other prizes including Chamber Checks and restaurant gift cards.

Hopkins County is the place for delicious foods of all types. From award-winning barbecue to down-home cookin’, pastries and donuts to diner platters, our local eateries have just what you’ve been craving. You could win a prize by eating great food!

“Hopkins County has over 80 restaurants, from unique local diners to familiar franchises!” says Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission, Communications Director, Colbi Ferguson. “Food & beverage is consecutively the top spending category for visitors in Kentucky, according to Kentucky Tourism’s yearly economic impact study,” said Ferguson. “Dining is big business for travelers, and we have great dining options here in Hopkins County.”

The contest begins on March 1st, 2024. Submitted receipts must be the original receipt provided by the restaurant and must include the location, date of purchase, and the total amount. Receipts must be dated on or after March 1st, 2024, to be eligible. Purchase is required, although there is no minimum purchase amount. Carry-out, dine-in, drive-thru, and curbside are all accepted! Receipts must be from different restaurants. Only one person per household is eligible to enter. Each receipt must be unique and cannot be duplicated for multiple entries.  Restaurants must be located in Hopkins County. Winners will be randomly selected. Entries must be submitted by Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 11:59 pm.  Click HERE for a list of eligible restaurants.

Champ, a lively 9-month-old Brittany Spaniel and English Pointer mix, captured hearts as soon as he arrived at our shelter as a stray. Despite spending 62 days with us, he’s yet to find his perfect match. Champ’s friendly nature extends to both dogs and cats, as he’s been tested and proven to get along well with both. His repertoire of tricks, including sitting, laying down, army crawling, and rolling over, showcases his intelligence and eagerness to please. With his charm and skills, Champ eagerly awaits the loving family that will give him the forever home he deserves.

This years auction promises to have all kinds of items to bid on! You can go to Parkway Plaza Mall in the old Factory Connection spot and pick up a bidder number as early as April 1st.
